Outlook for jobs market improving

The confidence appears to be returning to employers with recent reports suggesting employers are looking to increase their staffing levels in 2011. More than a third said they would be adding to their workforce in the next 3 months, whilst most will keep their staff at current levels.

The news also looks good for temporary workers, with over 90% of employers saying they planned to retain all their temporary staff and over 80% saying they had plans to add to their temporary workers.

The quarterly report by the REC provides a snapshot of the health of the current jobs market and asks 600 employers questions about their hiring and recruitment plans for the next 3 months.

Whilst each markets faces it own challenges, the market in pharmacy jobs and optical jobs, has remained consistent over the past 12 months. Demand for pharmacist recruitment and optometrist recruitment has always been led by location. This, we feel, will not change over the coming 12 months. That said, the market for pharmacist jobs and optical jobs has come under pressure in recent months with many locums feeling that the economic times are too uncertain and they prefer the security of permanent employment.
